Kaitlin helps repair a fusion machine to close the portals and save the multiverse. In the end, Kaitlin uses her climate change expertise to save planet earth from global warming.
On Katherine Garcia's world only draconian control over the citizens has kept the coastal flooding, droughts, floods, and diseases from killing them. Katherine's trying to achieve controlled nuclear fusion to provide a clean energy source and solve humanity's problems when the portals appear in her lab. She must use all her scientific knowledge to close the portals and save the multiverse, ushering in a new era of freedom.
