    earth    Neutrino Warning
   by Lesley L. Smith

In the catastrophe-laden twenty-second century, grad student Caitlin Anderson discovers how to send a message back in time. Can she send us her neutrino warning about global warming before the lab is destroyed?

  Back cover blurb:

Within the next hundred years, the oceans will rise; storms, floods, heat waves, and droughts will become more severe; diseases will spread. In the catastrophe-laden twenty-second century grad student Caitlin Anderson is working overtime to finish her Ph.D. in neutrino physics. When an avalanche kills the scientists working on a crucial alternative-energy experiment, she must take over the project to try to free the human race from its fossil fuel dependence.
Unfortunately, she's thwarted at every turn. She must battle a colleague who doesn't believe a woman can do a vital experiment and her distracting growing attraction to another colleague. Planet earth itself seems determined to wipe out Homo sapiens via escalating weather disasters.
Things go from bad to worse when she causes a huge accident in lab and someone is killed. However, Caitlin discovers the disaster in the lab enables her to send a neutrino warning to the twentieth-century about earth's dire straits. She has a chance to save billions of people who have died because of global warming.
Just when she's about to send the message back in time, a drought-induced wildfire overtakes the campus and she must choose between doing the experiment and saving her life. Can Caitlin send us the neutrino warning before the lab is destroyed?
And if so, will we heed her message in time?
